The ATR6550x shotgun condenser microphone delivers clear, intelligible pickup from near or far. A switch on the microphone body lets you easily switch between "Wide" and "Far" settings. In the "Wide" setting, which is appropriate for short- to mid-range microphones, the ATR6550x functions as a standard cardioid condenser, focusing the pickup on the desired sound source while blocking noise from the rear and sides. Switching to the "Far" setting narrows the polar pattern to supercardioid, giving you even greater directionality for capturing sound from a distance, while avoiding ambient noise such as traffic, air-handling systems, room reverberation, and mechanically coupled vibrations.
