In 1977, BOSS created an entirely new category of pedal with the OD-1, which for the first time offered natural overdrive to guitarists in this format. Its unique asymmetrical clipping circuit, producing a wealth of even harmonics, replicated the pleasing sound and feel of a tube amp, but with controllable volume levels. Four years later, this revolutionary design evolved into the more versatile SD-1, which added an active tone control for treble-shaping and subtle enhancements for tighter low end. It boosts your tone where it matters most so your guitar sits seamlessly in the mix with warmth, clarity, and presence. Lower gain settings are ideal for rhythm parts, while higher settings are ideal for fat, melodic leads. The SD-1 is also highly sensitive to input gain, allowing you to adjust your guitar's volume control to achieve different nuances of overdrive.
