THE BOOK
Alan Parsons is an audio engineer, composer, musician and record producer.
He was involved in the production of several important albums, including the Beatles' Abbey Road and Let it Be, and the debut album by the art rock band Ambrosia, as well as Pink Floyd. Parsons's own group, the Alan Parsons Project, as well as subsequent solo recordings, have also been commercially successful.
The Art & Science of Sound Recording: The Book offers readers a comprehensive overview of the latest recording technology, along with an almost encyclopedic list of processes and equipment. This book is simply written and filled with anecdotes from Alan Parsons' career working with The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and others.
More than simply a book, The Art and Science of Sound Recording takes legendary engineer, producer, and artist Alan Parsons’s approach to sound recording to the next level. In book form, Parsons has the space to include more technical background information, more detailed diagrams, plus a complete set of course notes on each of the 24 topics, from “The Brief History of Recording” to the now-classic “Coping with Disaster.” Written with co-producer, musician, and DVD author Julian Colbeck, ASSR, the book gives readers a classic look at modern recording technology along with a near-encyclopedic list of specific techniques, processes, and equipment.
